Why Your Master Bedroom Matters More Than You Think

If there’s one room in the house where the guest experience needs to be at its peak, it’s the master bedroom.
I personally always go above and beyond when it comes to it.
Here’s the logic:
The person staying there is usually the person who booked the house OR
If the cost is being split among a group, that person is almost always paying the most
So, if your goal is more 5-star reviews: this is the room where going a little further always pays off.
The Experience Matters

While guests may use the entire home, where they sleep is usually what determines their satisfaction level.
To increase it, I add thoughtful touches that I may not add throughout the entire property:
Fresh flowers
Charging port
Soap & shampoo/conditioner (if it’s a suite)
When the person in the master bedroom feels taken care of, the entire stay feels elevated.
Cleanliness Is Non-Negotiable

If your guests come in and see: hair on the bed, dust on the surfaces, or unwashed linens… you can say goodbye to a good review.
There is no margin for error here, your housekeeping needs to go the extra mile:
Look under the bed
Sweep and vacuum thoroughly
Double-check linens and pillows
This is most certainly a make or break for your guests.
The Actual Bed

I highly recommend investing in the best pillows & bedding. This will truly take the guest experience from a 5 to a solid 10.
If you are not in the mood to search & look for reviews, I’ve done the work for you:
Pillows: DreamyBlue Signature Pillow is a staple in every one of my properties.
Bedding: Parachute is a premium brand that delivers both comfort and durability.
Sheets: Avoid microfiber whenever possible, use 100% cotton sheets instead. Natural materials are perceived as more premium.
These are elevated approaches many top-performing hosts are taking, as wellness is becoming increasingly important to travelers.
If you regularly furnish short-term rentals, HostGPO is a great wholesale source for bedding, bath amenities, outdoor furniture, and more.
P.S.: If you really want to elevate your room aesthetic, think about the little things like cabinet knobs, etc. They are easy upgrades for cheap that elevate your space!
The Revenue Tie-In
If your listing looks great and feels incredible to sleep in, your pricing becomes easier to support.
At Synchronest, we consistently see higher-performing Airbnb listings combine two things:
Thoughtful design and guest experience
Dialed-in revenue management and pricing strategy
The master bedroom plays a much bigger role in this than most hosts realize.
